LPG is safe when used correctly, and here at Hills Gas, your safety is of high importance to us!
RULE ONE: Smelling rotten eggs? Switch it off!
LPG is intentionally scented with a strong, unmistakable odour, similar to rotten eggs, to alert you to leaks. If you detect this smell, turn off your gas bottle immediately.
Since LPG is flammable when mixed with air and exposed to an ignition source, preventing leaks is crucial. Beyond that, make sure to eliminate potential ignition sources at your refilling site, such as electrical devices, open flames, and running vehicles, to reduce the risk of fire.
HILLS GAS LPG SAFETY TIPS
1. Proper Storage
- Keep Cylinders Upright: Always store LPG cylinders in an upright position to prevent leaks.
- Ventilated Areas: Store cylinders in well-ventilated areas, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and electrical equipment.
- Secure Position: Ensure cylinders are secured to prevent them from tipping over.
2. Handling & Transportation
- Use Caution: Handle LPG cylinders with care, avoiding dropping or striking them.
- Transport Safely: When transporting cylinders, ensure they are upright and secured in the vehicle.

4. Usage Safety

- Evacuate Immediately: In case of a gas leak, evacuate the area immediately without turning on/off any electrical appliances or switches.
- Contact Emergency Services: Call emergency services if you suspect a significant leak or if there’s a fire.
