Regulators

WHAT ARE LPG REGULATORS?

LPG regulators are essential components in any gas system, responsible for controlling the pressure of the gas as it flows from the gas cylinder to your appliances. They ensure that the gas is delivered at a safe and consistent pressure, which is crucial for the efficient and safe operation of your LPG-powered devices.

Key Functions:

  • Pressure Control: Regulators reduce the high pressure of gas inside the cylinder to a lower, usable pressure for appliances.
  • Safety Mechanism: They help prevent gas leaks by maintaining a steady pressure, minimising the risk of over-pressurisation and potential hazards.
  • Flow Regulation: Ensures the correct amount of gas flows to your appliances, preventing under or over-supply which can affect performance and safety.
MANUAL REGULATORS
  1. Close the valve of the empty gas cylinder by turning it clockwise. This ensures that no gas is being released from the empty cylinder.
  2. Move the lever on the changeover valve to point towards the second gas cylinder. Ideally, this cylinder should be full if you ordered gas during the previous changeover. If the second cylinder is not full, it is advisable to contact your gas supplier promptly.
  3. Open the valve on the full gas cylinder by turning it anti-clockwise. This allows the gas to flow from the active cylinder and supply your gas system.
*To avoid any interruptions in your gas supply, it is important to order a replacement gas cylinder as soon as you switch between cylinders. This proactive approach ensures that you never run out of gas unexpectedly.

AUTOMATIC REGULATORS

  1. Ensure that both gas cylinder valves are in the OPEN position.
  2. Look for the visual indicator on the changeover valve. It is typically located near the valve or on the device itself.
  3. Check the colour of the indicator. If it is green, white, or clear it means that the current cylinder still has gas.
  4. Monitor the indicator regularly. When it turns red, it indicates that the first cylinder is empty and needs to be replaced.
  5. Once the indicator turns red, promptly call for a gas delivery.
  6. Wait for the delivery driver to arrive and replace the empty cylinder with a full one.
  7. After the replacement, the delivery driver will reset the indicator to its original state.
  8. Continue using the gas supply as usual, with the changeover valve automatically switching to the new cylinder when needed.
  9. Remember to periodically check your gas cylinders, ideally once a month, to ensure that you have a sufficient supply of gas.

Following these steps will help you effectively utilise an automatic changeover valve and maintain a continuous gas supply.

Please note there is quite a few different types of automatic regulators. They may look different, but they all operate the same.
